Art Show

The membership of the NMC is by its nature a creative group. For the first time, the University of Wisconsin - Madison, would like to offer you a different opportunity to showcase your artistic talent. The idea for such a show is coming from our keynote speaker Dr. Ahna Skop, who has been coordinating art shows at her scientific meetings for years. We are open to all artistic works and are expecting the unexpected. The date for RSVPs is April 22 to give us time to plan adequate space.

  • Represent!
    • In honor of our first NMC art exhibition, we have chosen one category to express your feelings about what New Media Consortium means to you.
  • Scientific Art & Science Inspired Art
    • In honor of our keynote speaker, we have a category for scientific works that are artistic in their own right or art inspired by science.
  • Ambient Art
    • Art inspired from people & places around you: where you live, where you work, where you would rather be.

Works can be of any format, but you are responsible for transportation of your piece (so a large stone sculpture might be impractical.) We will ask you more about the format in the RSVP process so we can determine other concerns.

Awards will be given in the categories noted above by an esteemed panel of judges. In addition, awards will be made for: Most Humorous and Best of Show, as voted by attendee ballot.

RSVPs to need to made by April 22 with the following information

Name (s):
Title of work:
Description and format of the work:
School or Institution:

Additional Notes

The artwork title and name should be placed near your work.

Please put your name on the back of your work as well.

It is preferable to mount your work on poster board or have it framed.

You are responsible for hanging and taking down your artwork before and after the meeting.

We will request any digital works in advance so that we can compile them for presentation at the show.

The Art Show area will be in with the NMC Poster and Interactives Session that will be held on Thursday, June 16; 4:00 - 5:30 pm.
